Formed in 1997, the JMF is a private, non-profit organization that has been supporting progressive work in Montana with small grant awards for non-profit projects. The foundation honors Jerry Metcalf and celebrates his life and his abiding love of Montana.
Jerry deeply appreciated Montana's history, culture, arts, and environment.
He treasured Montana's cities and towns, mountains and valleys, rivers and streams. He enjoyed the ordinary things: work and laughter, creativity and compassion.
The Jerry Metcalf Foundation awards grants to individuals and groups working to enhance Montana's natural environment and diverse communities.
The Foundation supports projects in these areas

This year marks a special year for our foundation — we gave out our first round of grants 25 years ago in 1998. Over those 25 years, the foundation has awarded nearly $1.3 million to 173 Montana organizations and individuals to support hundreds of projects in those four areas that contribute mightily to the quality of life in our state.
